New South Korean Visa Requirements (2024):
Handling financial documents like income tax returns (ITR), bank certificates, and statements has always been a headache during visa applications. But guess what? The South Korean Embassy in the Philippines has come up with a new plan that means certain Filipinos won't have to submit financial documents when applying for a South Korean visa.

Who's Exempt from Financial Document Submission?
Starting from February 1, 2024, until December 31, 2024, the following individuals don't need to worry about bank certificates, bank statements, and ITRs when applying for a South Korean visa:
1. Elected Politicians: This includes members of the Senate, Congress, Governors, Provincial Board Members, and Mayors (City or Municipality). Even immediate family members are covered, but proof of relationship is required.
2. Government Officials: Individuals with a rank equal to or higher than Assistant Secretary of the Executive Branch or Brigadier General of the Armed Forces/Police, excluding those on acting duties. Again, immediate family members are included, and a Certificate of Employment is required instead of financial documents.
3. Professional License Holders: Holders of a valid PRC license ID (IBP ID for lawyers) in professions like physicians, dentists, lawyers, accountants, pharmacists, and veterinarians. A copy of their PRC or IBP ID is sufficient, and immediate family members are exempt too, with proof of relationship needed.

4. BDO Gold or BDO Elite Credit Card Holders: Excluding supplementary cardholders, these credit card holders are also exempt from financial document submission. Specific cards are mentioned, and immediate family members need to provide an original certificate of employment, credit card details, and the latest three months' credit card account statements.
Optional Financial Documents Submission:
Even though financial documents are no longer required, those falling into these categories are welcome to submit them if they believe it could aid their visa approval. It's important to note that only the specified financial documents can be replaced or omitted. Other essential visa application documents, like a valid passport, visa forms, travel insurance, employment documents, and travel itineraries, are still necessary.
These simplified visa application requirements come as part of recent changes to the South Korean visa application process. Other updates include the establishment of the Korea Visa Application Center for streamlined visa processes and the option for visa applicants from Mindanao and Palawan to mail in their applications.
